The Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve and the Villaquilambre CIAMI Collaborate on a Training Day on Gender Equality
February 24, 2025
Last Friday, February 25, around 20 participants gathered for a training day organized by the Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve, with the participation of the Villaquilambre Town Hall’s CIAMI (Center for Information and Advice on Women and Equality).
According to the planned program, the day began with introductions of the participants by the mayors of La Pola de Gordón and Villaquilambre, Antonio García and Jorge Pérez, respectively. This was followed by a presentation of the Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve by its manager, Beni Rodríguez.
The day continued with a presentation of the RES-MAB project by project manager Beatriz Salas and rural development specialist Verónica del Río. Finally, Carmen Fernández, coordinator of the Villaquilambre CIAMI, spoke about how gender equality is implemented in the region. This training is part of a work package led by Alto Bernesga, aimed at developing a useful guide for reservation managers and other stakeholders to create their own gender equality plans and integrate them into action plans and daily routines.
The training day is part of the RES-MAB Project, of which Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve is a partner and leader of the gender work package. The project is funded by the EU through funds managed by the PRIMA Foundation.
